Elizabeth and Simon are the most delightful couple, and their wedding at Caswell House was one of the most memorable I have had the pleasure of attending. As I live fairly near Oxford I’m always very excited to be booked as a Caswell House wedding photographer, as it’s one of my favourite wedding venues in Oxfordshire. Especially when the sun is shining!
I was assisted on the day by John from John Mottershaw Photography.
Barn wedding venues in Oxfordshire
I feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of England. There is an abundance of stunning manor houses, hotels and even a Blenheim Palace! But equally there are so many beautiful barn and rural locations, often built using Cotswold stone and always with a unique feel of being in the very heart of the English countryside. We were extremely lucky to be bathed in gorgeous sunshine the whole day.
Caswell House wedding photography is quite possibly one of my favourite locations. Its not only a fantastic setting, but the buildings and grounds are refined and well maintained, the staff are friendly and professional, and the barn itself is one of the nicest I’ve been to.
Caswell House wedding ceremony
I had a lovely morning with Elizabeth and her bridesmaids getting ready in the dedicated bridal room. Julie from Jules Makeup Artistry & Hair Design in Witney was so easy to work with and really friendly too. Meanwhile John was photographing the boys making the final preparations hanging ribbons on the trees, as well as the beautiful barn and grounds. The barn looked gorgeous, and the flowers were amazing! Alison from Classic Flowers in Witney arranged the flowers, which were a combination of strong and pale pink to contrast the pewter bridesmaids dresses.
Elizabeth wore Oleg Cassini and the bridesmaids had pewter coloured floor length dresses, all from David’s Bridal.
As Elizabeth walked out into the beautiful sunshine followed by her bridesmaids we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Simon and his groomsmen all looked very smart waiting in the barn, and the big moment soon arrived! The civil ceremony was followed by a blessing, and the happy couple walked down the aisle, followed by the guests with the most beautiful pink flower petal confetti!
We took a walk around the grounds for some portraits of the bride and groom. I always enjoy this part of the day, as the relaxed portraits of the couple in the grounds of their chosen venue give them a few minutes away from the crowds. We captured some lovely moments showing the grounds as well as the fun and romance of the day.
After a few group photos it was time for the wedding breakfast. The Caswell House wedding reception food is always absolutely amazing, and today was no exception! After the speeches there was a surprise game of Mr and Mrs which is one of the funniest wedding moments I’ve seen, the guests really enjoyed it.
As it was such a lovely evening we wandered around the farm for a few more photos before the dancing. All too soon it was time for us to depart after the most magical day. Congratulations to a wonderful couple! You made us feel so welcome at your wedding day.
Harp music from Tori Handsley
A special mention to Tori Handsley for the wonderful music throughout the day. Tori is professional and talented, and really adds to the atmosphere of the day. Thank you for the beautiful music!
We were very happy with Carol and it was not only the stunning photos that we have as a memory of the day but the way that she was able to provide great service from the start to the end of our wedding. On our actual wedding day Carol was tireless in the way that she was able to be exactly where we needed her to be and took away any concerns that we had about our day being recorded. We were delighted with John’s photo composition and their styles complemented each other.
Seeing the photos for the first time was a bit of sheer disbelief of how lucky we were with our day and each other. We had a stunning venue and day during which we could not stop smiling. It felt like every time we went to a new photo we were reliving our day.
The photos themselves were more than we expected and we would not hesitate to recommend Carol as a wedding photographer.
“We had a 3 tier cake with the top tier being gluten free. It was pink with a spray of cascading rose petals and gold leaf. The cakes were supplied by Cutter and Squidge in London and we chose the garden berry flavour cake (all a light sponge with a lemon and berry layers). We chose this supplier as they were able to customise the cake for us combining 2 of their types of cakes, the exterior of one and the flavour of another. They were able to be flexible and supply multiple additional cakes for our dessert. They also tasted amazing!”
